In the Studio - How the Artwork Was Made

A lone polar bear and arctic fox watch silently as a seal rises to it's breathing hole in this layered steel and wood relief. — I heat the steel with a large propane to get the oxidation colors or heat colors.

A design for limited edition originals in heat colored steel.

Enlarging the design onto various pieces of stee and wood.

Ready for assembly.

The form is “modeled” with grinding disks.

A lone polar bear and arctic fox watch silently as a seal rises to it's breathing hole in this layered steel and wood relief. — A Dario Sr44 articulated bandsaw was used to cut the ice form from a wide cottonwood board.
