Italian Flagstone Carver

Relief sculpture in bronze of Italian stone mason cutting the herringbone pattern into flagstones.

2 in stock (can be backordered)

In 1978, while I was attending the Naguib School of Sculpture, I had the amazing opportunity of accompanied my grandmother on a trip to Italy and Sicily for 6 weeks. I did a lot of sketching and modeled this relief after a drawing I did one day when I visited Fortessa da Basso in Florence. I watched as a mason was cutting herringbone texture into paving stones for the courtyard.
