Large Metal Wall Art for the Living Room

Aerial view of the Lower Kuskokwim Delta. Metal wall art for a Fairbanks, AK home. We installed this piece in the living room.

Decorating with Large Metal Wall art in The Living Room

I recently returned from a road trip to install this large heat-colored steel metal wall art titled ‘Lower Kuskokwim’ in the living room of a  Fairbanks area home.

It’s a variation of a similar design I’d made on a much smaller scale which is now available as a metal photo print.

The inspiration came from my research for a public art project proposal involving viewing satellite images of the Western Alaska region.

I zoomed in on the Lower Kuskokwim Delta area and fell in love with the organic abstract shapes and textures suggested by the view from so far above the earth.

We hung this piece in the living room of the home, where it complements the green wall covering and the deep green of the white spruces as viewed through the south-facing living room windows.

I float-mounted the steel on a black panel framed with reclaimed redwood to fit in with the reddish-brown wood and black accents in this modern Alaskan home.

Over the years, I’ve made a number of other pieces of large metal wall art for the living room in homes around the country.

Please send me a photo of your living room and let me know what kind of metal wall art would look best there.

It All Begins with a Drawing
